Had a briefing about the education system here and its been expanding rapidly over the last few years- going from about 4m children enrolled in 2000, to over 14m in 2006 - this is about 80% of all children.

We were having a conversation about schooling today over dinner and my elder son, fresh from his last day at school before the summer holidays, said:

"They should teach you something you don't know." (Corrigan, J. 2008)

I had to record it somewhere and given my periodic brain dumps here of my views of the education system, I figured this was as good a place as any.

Slightly off topic for this blog but Simon Carr has been listening to the Health Secretary's plans for the NHS and predicting that revered British institution is going to sink even deeper into an ever expanding sea of administrative drivel.
